Does the consulate accept visa applications to Iceland?

No, the Consulate does not accept or process visa applications to Iceland. All visa and Immigration related questions should  be addressed to VFS Global via email or telephone:

Does the consulate issue regular passports?

The Consulate does not issue regular passports but is authorized to issue emergency passports. These temporary passports are not ideal travel documents and are intended for repatriation or travel to the next place of application for general passports.

What are the steps and requirements for the issuance of an emergency passport?

Step 1

Please send the following information and a scanned copy of the documents via e-mail to iceland.png@gmail.com or iceland.png@gmail.com:

Full name and Kennitala number
Height of the applicant (in cm)
Mailing address in the Papua New Guinea
Mobile number
The purpose for applying for an emergency passport. Please note that your old passport will become invalid once an emergency passport has been issued.
If expired – please present a scanned copy of the applicant’s current or expired Icelandic Passport
If lost or stolen – please present a copy of a Police Report, as well as an accomplished copy of the Stolen Passport Declaration

Provide another government issue ID proving the applicant’s identity such as an older passport, an Icelandic driver’s license, or other legal documentation to prove the applicant’s identity.

For children under the age of 18, apart from the information above please provide additional details or scanned copy of the following documents:
Birth certificate of the child
Government-issued IDs proving the identity of both parents (e.g. passport and a driver’s license)
Address in the Papua New Guinea of both parents
Mobile numbers of both parents

Step 2

You’ll be notified via e-mail once the Consulate has been granted the authority to issue the Emergency Passport by Icelandic authorities.  We will also send you information on our bank details, and a confirmed appointment date.Applicants will be charged for the Emergency Passport a fee of USD 55 for ages 18 to 66 years old and/or USD 20 for children under the age of 18. Payment must be deposited to our bank account prior to the confirmed appointment date with the Consul and a copy of the payment must be sent via e-mail to icelandpng@gmail.com.

Step 3

On your appointment date, please bring the following documents:Emergency Passport Application Form (V-910 Form) – printed and accomplished with details required, but without a signature. The form must be signed in the presence of the Consul.
Three (3) identical passport photos. See photo guidelines below.
The purpose for applying for an emergency passport:If the current passport has expired, please present the applicant’s current or expired passport.
If lost or stolen, please present a Police Report, as well as an accomplished copy of the Stolen Passport Declaration (form V-906)6. Government-issued ID proving the applicant’s identity such as an older passport, an Icelandic driver’s license, or other legal documentation to prove the applicant’s identity.

For children under the age of 18, apart from the documents listed above, please bring the following:

Birth certificate of the childGovernment-issued IDs proving the identity of both parentsBoth parents shall be present together with the child to apply for the child’s passport. If one guardian is unable to attend the appointment, the other must bring an approval form (V-904) already signed by the absent guardian. The signature must be confirmed by two witnesses (older than 18). If those who sign and witness this approval do not have Icelandic ID numbers, a copy of their identification documents must be provided.

What are your passport photo guidelines?

Your passport must follow the following guidelines:

- 35x45mm in size, printed on good quality paper without marks or stamps
- The photo must be new and less than 6 months old and not the same as the one issued in the last passport
- Take off your hat and any head covering
- Your whole face must be visible and should cover approximately half of the photograph
- Do not use filters commonly used on social media or profile photos on your social media
- Use a plain white or off-white background

How many days does it take to process an emergency passport?

The applicant will receive his/her emergency passport on the scheduled appointment date with the Consul approximately 12 to 14 working days upon application.
